Why Should I Renew My Passport Fast?
If you are traveling outside of the United States within the next few weeks and your current passport is expired or damaged, you should choose fast passport renewal. Passport renewals generally take several weeks to process; if your trip is scheduled before that time, a fast passport renewal is highly recommended.
What if My Name Has Changed?
If your name has changed from the legal name stated on your passport, submit your current or expired passport with proof of name change, such as a marriage certificate, divorce decree or name change decree.
Under What Circumstances Would I Need to Apply for a New Passport?
There are a few circumstances that will prevent you from renewing your passport. In these situations, you will need to apply for a new passport, which requires different documentation. These circumstances include, but aren’t limited to:
– your current or expired passport has been lost or stolen;
– your passport was issued more than 15 years ago;
– your passport has been expired for more than 5 years;
– your passport was issued to you before the age of 16.
What Paperwork Must Be Completed?
In order to obtain fast passport renewal, you will need to complete the Passport Renewal Application Form DS-82 and the FastPort Passport Letter of Authorization to give us permission to process your application. Additionally, 2 standard passport photos (2″x2″) and two copies of one documented proof of international travel are required for processing.
If any of the materials are missing, this will delay or prevent fast passport renewal services.
Are There Any Government Fees?
The U.S. Department of State currently charges $170 for a fast passport renewal. Checks or money orders should be made out to the U.S. State Department.
