If you have a child under the age of 16, and need to expedite a brand new passport for him/her, or his/her old passport is expired and will expire soon, we are here to help!

Any person under the age of 16 is considered a child a must get a new passport every 5 years in order to travel internationally. Children cannot renew passports the way adults can.

Our website provides a step-by-step instructional checklist on how to obtain a new child’s passport after you place your order through our site. And here is a detailed description of what you will need to do, to clarify the instructions available above: To obtain an expedited child’s passport through Fastport Passport, you will have to send in to us:

  • Your child’s ORIGINAL birth certificate
  • The filled-out DS-11 Form aka the Application for a New U.S. Passport  (Do NOT sign until later! See instructions below)
  •  2 copies of the Fastport Passport Authorization Letter. On this form, one parent’s name goes on top line, the child’s name and date of birth go on the next two lines, and the parent’s signature (matching the signature on his/her driver’s license/passport) goes on the bottom with the date
  • 2 copies of the child’s confirmation of international travel plans within 14 days (i.e., an airline itinerary, or photocopy of the child’s plane ticket. Proof of travel must include the child’s name, date leaving the U.S., and destination country)
  • Two copies of your child’s new passport photos, which you can have taken at any local Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, or any store of that nature.
  • A check made out to the U.S. Department of state for $140 for a New Child’s Passport
  • Your child’s old passport (if available)

BOTH PARENTS AND THE CHILD must bring all of the above documents to your local post office OR county clerk’s office that employs an acceptance agent to sign the Passport Application on behalf of your child and for anti-child abduction purposes.  If one parent is unable to be present to sign the application, the absentee parent must fill out, sign, and have notarized a Statement of Consent form and also provide a back and front photocopy of his/her driver’s license or valid United States Passport. The notarized form and the photocopy of the ID can be used in place of the absentee parent. Once you have signed your child’s passport application in front of an acceptance agent, the agent will put all of your child’s documents (listed above) into an envelope with an official seal, also called an adjudicated or hand-carry envelope. Please keep in mind that you must keep 1 copy of the Fastport Passport Authorization Form AND 1 copy of your child’s international travel itinerary outside of the officially sealed adjudicated envelope from the acceptance agent. You will then take 1) the sealed envelope, 2) the Authorization Form, and 3) the child’s international travel itinerary to your local FedEx location, and put all three items into a FedEx envelope and send it to our Coney Island Avenue location via FedEx Priority Overnight shipping. NOTE: Do NOT send via FedEx First Overnight, as the package will arrive to our store before opening hours and there will be no one there to receive it.
