In some cases, U.S. Citizens are issued a Limited Passport Book, which is just like any other U.S. Passport, except for that it is only valid for one year. An example of how you might have a Limited Passport Book is if you lost your passport while outside of the United States, and the U.S. Consulate in the country you were visiting issued you a Limited Passport to replace the one you lost.

If your Limited Passport Book was issued less than one year ago, and you need to replace the passport soon, you will order a passport renewal with us and choose the desired speed of service. Instead of following the regular Renewal instructions after placing your order, you will fill out and send in the DS-5504, or the Passport Reapplication Form along with your most recent U.S. Passport, two new passport photos, the Fastport Passport Authorization Letter, and a check made out to the U.S. Department of State for $170.

If your Limited Passport Book was issued more than one year ago and you need a new passport expedited to you, you need to order and expedited renewal through our website.
