- Your most recent U.S. passport is currently valid or expired within the last 5 years.
- Your passport is in your possession and undamaged.
- It was issued when you were 16 or older.

The U.S. Department of State now offers an online passport renewal system for eligible applicants. However, not everyone qualifies to renew online, and no expedited service is available through the system.
